September 18, 52 or 53 A.D., died at Selinus
in Cilicia on August 8, 117 A.D.) was a
Roman emperor and reigned from 98 to 117
A.D.

Head of Emperor Augustus
Made of marble by an anonymous artist
between 27 BCE. and 14 AD. Found at
Ephesus, it is now displayed at the
Archaeological Museum in Ephesus.
The first Roman emperor (born in Rome on
September 23, 63 B.C., died at Nola, in
Campania on August 19 14 A.D.) reigned 41
years, from 27 B.C. to 14 A.D. Under the
emperor Augustus, Ephesus became the
capital of the Roman province of Asia. It
was an early seat of Christianity. When he
died, the empire stretched from Iberia to
Cappadocia and from Gaul to Egypt.

Eros with Rabbit

in Ephesus, exhibited today at the Archaeological
Ephesus Museum.
The eros is standing on a low base. On a
supporting pillar on the right he is holding a
rabbit up by his ears to protect him from a dog
on his left.
