Funeral Stele from Pella
This stele of a young warrior was found in
Pella, the capital of ancient Macedonia.
He is portrayed in heroic nudity leaning on
his shield and holding a spear in his left
hand. He is wearing a helmet and on his left
shoulder a chlamys.
The original, dated to the years 480–450 B.C.
has a height of 172 cm and is exhibited at
the Istanbul Museum.
